We are a proud member of CIRM (Comité International Radio-Maritime - The International Association for Marine Electronics Companies). Last friday the summer newsletter was sent and we had the opportunity to make our contribution with an article about NSI. We want to give you the chance to read this article too, so we are posting it on our own blog: The most demanding jobs ask for the most reliable solutions.Let’s take a deep dive into the world of maritime keyboards, pointing devices and control panels.. Requirements for maritime applications are demanding. More and more regulations are coming, mandatory tests and certifications are indispensable, and in the maritime world, all components simply have to meet the highest standards. Parts must be protected against water, dust, dirt, oil and even chemicals. Therefore a deep technical knowledge is needed to find the right solutions for operations in challenging conditions. These requirements also apply for keyboards, trackballs and control panels. Therefore, our company NSI has fully committed itself to meet the highest level of control, accuracy and quality in this niche market. Since 1988 NSI provides reliable solutions for the demanding applications in various industries. One of our largest markets is the maritime and marine sector. With more than 30 years of experience you can say we are a reliable supplier of all kinds of input devices. Input devices can be understood as various products: keyboards, trackballs, joysticks, touchpads, control panels, radar & ECDIS control panels and more. NSI is a Belgian based company and, together with the UK company Cursor Controls, part of the discoverIE Group plc. We offer the most extended range of maritime keyboard and trackball solutions with IEC60945 certification in the world! This large standard product range is a big advantage, but we really make a difference with flexible custom solutions and personalized products. Even for smaller quantities. Do you know that NSI and Cursor Controls are the only companies offering IP68 fully waterproof trackballs? This patented design has already proven a huge difference in various maritime applications. Rebranding of NSI's logo and corporate identity

07/06/2022

Rebranding of NSI's logo and corporate identity. NSI's original logo was created by a Brussels artist when the company was founded in 1988. Since then, we have proudly used this composition for more than 30 years. Our logo is now well known in the sector and still represents solidity and confidence. We love our logo, we love our brand, but we are also moving forward! So it was time to modernise our logo. This spring, our internal marketing manager renewed the existing NSI logo while maintaining and respecting the historic fundamentals of NSI. The following changes were made: The composition of NSI is slightly repositioned so that the dimensions are completely correct.. Our main product categories "keyboards & pointing devices" has been added to the logo.. Our tagline "for the most demanding jobs" has been added to the logo. This confirms our values of providing high quality products in various sectors with high requirements.. The logo was modernised by using a sleek font.. The colours were adjusted and fixed. The orange accent colour gives an extra fresh and modern look to NSI.. With the renewal of the logo, we give our appearance a new boost, without detracting from our history. If you would like to use our new logo and colours, you can download them from our download center.

Corona COVID-19 precautions

23/03/2020

A message from NSI bvba regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) As always at NSI, supporting our customers, employees and partners remains our absolute highest priority and we would like to reassure you that we are fully committed to doing all that we can to minimise the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and any disruption to our operations. We have already taken a number of steps to reduce risk throughout each aspect of our operations including the establishment of a Group Coronavirus Taskforce which meets daily to monitor the very fluid global picture, review all latest Governmental and WHO advice and guidelines, and implement a proportionate and appropriate action plan to mitigate risk. Steps implemented over the preceding weeks have included: A halting of all overseas business travel and non-essential local travel – replacing face to face meetings with online meetings and conference calls. A pre-emptive review of planned external party visitors to our facility with a postponement wherever possible. Provision of anti-bacterial gel and cleaning agents.. Increased frequency site cleaning. An increase in working from home where appropriate. Regular Coronavirus information bulletins posted to all notice boards in support of staff briefings on the latest guidance and precautions to be taken. Reduction of internal face to face meetings and an increase in social distancing. Increasing stock holdings of any items identified as ‘high risk’ and a continual monitoring of the NSI supply chain by the team to ensure early identification of potential issues and allow for actions to be taken.. Our production remains operational, following the governmental announced safety precautions, and we do not anticipate delivery issues in short term due to the Corona Covid-19 virus. Our customers will be informed on an individual base if orders should become delayed. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your regular contact and they will be happy to assist. From all of us at NSI we thank you for your continued support and would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone the best of health. Best regards, Freddy Caubergh Managing Director

Food keyboards

02/05/2019

Make operators' life easy - use keyboards. NSI launched their "Food keyboards", specifically adapted to the harsh conditions in food processing industry. The combination of cold environment and hot cleaning water/damp creates one of the most challenging environments for electronic HMI devices. Touchscreen might seem like the perfect solution, but has its limits towards ergonomics and usability. CASE STORY - INDUSTRIAL KEYBOARDS FOR THE FOOD INDUSTRY When Puratos, one of the biggest food ingredient suppliers in the world, modernized its machinery, Hygienic designed touchscreen displays, integrated with the company’s computer systems, were installed. This seemed like the perfect solution, given the hygienic requirements and harsh conditions within the production area. These multi-touch screens have a few downsides though. It is a lot more ergonomic and comfortable for operators to work with a keyboard and mouse/trackball when entering large amounts of data. Furthermore, when the touch functionality does not fully work (due to pollution, malfunction, gloves,…) the operator station may go out of service. Puratos began looking for a custom solution and landed on the NSI food keyboards. Because the touchpanels could be mounted in several ways, Puratos needed a custom solution to fit the keyboards onto its panel computers. NSI designed a frame that attached directly to the existing infrastructure, in every possible mounting form. The foldable design and adjustable angle of the frame provided an ergonomic advantage for the Puratos team. Even when the type of panels changes, NSI can quickly adapt the frame without high costs or efforts. Steven Batselier - Automation Manager Puratos N.V. “We wanted to make life easier for our operators by installing keyboards next to our existing displays. Finding products that fit the hygienic needs within the food industry wasn’t easy. Finding the right mounting onto our panels was even a lot more difficult. But when we landed on the NSI website we found what we were looking for. They really made a difference by designing a custom-made frame to mount the keyboards on our existing displays. It was tested thoroughly in our facilities to make sure both the frame and the keyboards met our standards. Everything was installed and delivered within two days after testing. NSI offered great service.” . Contact our specialists for advice. .
